Souvlakia o Tzimis

Fantastic! Highly recommended! We've eaten here twice already. The staff is friendly, plenty of outdoor seating on a nice plaza, and the food is wonderful! Chicken and kebab are the favorites, but we tried and liked all the meats in the mixed grill. I have a peanut allergy, and they are happily peanut-free! (But please ways do your own checking). The menu is in Greek, English, French, and Italian (or Spanish?). We used our limited Greek, but the staff was also great with English.

We found this little restaurant online on TripAdvisor. It was really well rated, so we decided to try it, and let me tell you : it was worth it. It was so good that we came back a second time the day after. The restaurant is located on a small public plaza near a busy street with a lot of clothing shops. This tavern isn’t accessible by car, but you can walk easily towards it. Just make sure to have google maps with you : we somewhat had a hard time finding it the first time, because it blends really well with the nearby shops. Now it’s time to talk about my favourite part of this place (even though the decorations are beautiful), the food. For what you are paying, it is an absolute steal. The quality of the food was exceptional and the service was great. It just takes a little time to order, because the ladies that work there aren’t english speakers. It didn’t bother me at all because they were patient and very welcoming. Overall, a great place, with great food and great service. Very worth the shot.

A great place! We enjoyed both the chicken gyros and the vegetarian gyros, and they were delicious. The food was fresh and generous. The restaurant has seating outside set in an atmospheric old town square. After reading the reviews, we decided it was worth the trip, and we’re so glad we did! Although we've visited Kalamata many times, this was our first time visiting the old town. Tzimis with its seating near the historic church and a lovely fountain shaded by trees unexpectedly lovely place in an otherwise modern grid plan town.

Even after >10 years, still awesome. It is still in my opinion the loveliest place to eat pita. The pita is great, the service is warm (mother and his son Tzimi), the atmosphere is fantastic... Please mind, there is no kids chair. There are chairs/tables but it's more like a 'streetfood' bar than a restaurant. But if you lunch/dine here, you will really feel immersed in the local Kalamata living (especially at night!)
